Background and History

The Texas Exes Scholarship Foundation was created in 2009 as a separate 501(c)(3) legal entity affiliated with the Ex-Students' Association of the University of Texas. The Foundation is established with its own board of directors, grant making identity and governance structure. As a supporting organization of the Ex-Students' Association, the Foundation enjoys public charity status, as well as the professional services of the Ex-Students' Association, including staffing and administrative support. The Ex-Students Association of the University of Texas (Texas Exes) has a long history of providing scholarships to students attending UT Austin. The Foundation is responsible for administering association scholarships, including investment of the endowment and selection of recipients.

Criteria for selection is based on the donor and can include, high school attended, geography, type of major, ethnicity, and other factors important to the donor. Selection is made by the Foundation's scholarship committee in the spring of each year and can be awarded to incoming freshman as well as upper classmen.

Comprehensive scholarships covering 4 years of undergraduate study, including tuition, room, board, books, service learning experience, study abroad and internships. Selection is made by Foundation's scholarship committee in the spring of each year.
