Named scholarships are our most common type of scholarships. They are meant to commemorate or memorialize loved ones and forever link their names with giving.
The Texas Exes Scholarship Foundation hosts over 200 Named Scholarship funds. Each has its own criteria, according to the wishes of the donor. They can be highly specific or fairly broad.
Some are merit-based; some require financial need. Others target students in specific academic disciplines or extracurricular organizations. Some factor in race, leadership qualities, or hometown. The range is truly enormous.
For 2010-2011, 314 students will receive named scholarships totaling $755,102.
